Public
Works
The Public Works Department operates from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached by calling City
Hall at 297-6041. The Public Works personnel are responsible
for the maintenance of all City streets and right-of-ways as
well as the installation and maintenance of the sewer grinder
pump system. They are on call 24 hours a day in case of street
or sewer emergencies that occur outside regular business hours.
Call 297-6041 to report an emergency.
The City of Belle Meade has a street maintenance contract for
the maintenance of their thirty-two miles of streets. This contract
includes asphalt and pothole repair, striping, signage, snow
removal and other services. Personnel make routine checks to
evaluate the overhanging, dead or diseased trees and limbs that
may block streets signs or cause vision obstructions for motorists
and pedestrians.
Local weather conditions are monitored by staff personnel and,
if necessary, granular and the new liquid sodium chloride is
applied at all intersections, then to major north/south and east/west
connecting roadways. All streets are cleared in the event of
heavy snowfall.
Nashville Electric Service, under an agreement with the City,
is responsible for repairs and maintenance of streetlights. To
report a streetlight that is out, call City Hall at 297-6041.
It is extremely helpful if the caller can have the pole number
on which the streetlight is located. The pole number is on a
plate attached to the pole, usually at eye level. If the pole
number is not available, then the nearest house number and street
location will help us in locating the pole.
