The City of Belle
Meade is charted as a City Manager-Commissioner form of government.
The Commissioners are the policy making body
while the City Manager is the chief administrative officer. The
citizens elect the Commissioners for four-year terms and the
Commissioners elect two of their members to serve as Mayor and
Vice-Mayor for two-year terms. Regular meetings of the Commissioners
are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall, 4705 Haring Road, Nashville Tennessee.. These meetings are open to the public and
all residents and other interested parties are cordially
invited
to attend.

Board Meetings
Call City Hall, 297-6041, to verify date and time of Board Meetings.
Occasionally, meetings are changed in order to accommodate schedules
or to obtain the required quorum.
Board of Commissioners
- Meets third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at Belle Meade City Hall.
The Mayor, Vice-Mayor and Commissioner preside; a public hearing
is held at the beginning of each meeting
for citizen comment. Agendas are posted in City Hall at least
24 hours prior to the board meeting and on the website.
Board of Zoning Appeals – Meets
third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Belle Meade City Hall..

The Board of Zoning Appeals
was created by the first zoning ordinance, which was adopted
in 1938. This legislation, the basis for the present zoning code,
established height of structure, minimum lot area, open side
and rear yards, setback requirements and defined permitted and
non-conforming uses. The Mayor appoints the five members of this
board for three-year staggered terms. Plans and drawings to be
considered are due at the Building Official's office by 4:00
p.m. on the Monday fifteen days prior to the meeting.

Municipal Planning
Commission – Meets third Tuesday of
each month at 5:00 p.m. at Belle Meade City Hall.
Agendas are posted outside our office at least 24 hours prior
to the meeting and on the website.
The Municipal Planning
Commission, established in 1939, was empowered to adopt a general
plan for the purpose of building and accomplishing a coordinated,
adjusted and harmonious development of the municipality. This
ten-member Commission considers proposals for sub-divisions of
land, changes to the zoning code and petitions for the closure
or renaming of streets. The Mayor appoints the members for a
three-year staggered term. Plans and related information for
consideration should be at the Building Official's office no later
than the Monday fifteen days prior to the meeting date.

Code Appeals - Meets third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
at Belle Meade City Hall,
if matters are presented. In cases of non-compliance with the
building codes, variances
may be sought from this Board.
